Hi Scala enthousiasts!
Our 10th DUSE meetup is just ahead of you. This time we’ll dive into Dependency Injection (DI) in order to find out which one of the myriads approaches for Scala you like best. Besides that there is time to show your favorite Scala snippets, which has proven to be an appealing approach to have a look into various areas of Scala (remember the Y-Combinator? ;-))
18:15 - 18:45: Food & Drinks
18:45 - 19:30: Snippet Blips
Everyone gets the chance to present within a timeframe of 5 – 15 min an interesting snippet of Scala code she/he found worthwhile to share. In the sense of ‘the more snippets == the more Scala == the more fun’ we ask you to prepare and bring your own one with you.
19:30 - 20:30: DI hands-on
DI in Scala is still an experimental problem domain. Various approaches exist with all their pros and cons. Namely Cake Pattern, structural typing, implicit declarations, Guice, Liftweb approach, and last (and probably least) Spring. We split up in small groups, which all implement a simple use-case with one of the techniques.
20:30 - ~21:00 : DI presentation
Each group gets 5 – 10 minutes to present their implementation, so that we all gain a 360 view of all DI there is in Scala.
I’m looking forward to seeing you for another rambling evening with Scala!
